This has been an incredible year for me as your librarian and for everyone in our library. Some highlights include:
Lots of great collaborations with teachers, including English Seminar students embarking on a new unit with creative nonfiction, "book tastings" with Power & Influence classes, World History, Spanish, and Math students creating video demonstrations of their learning using our portable green screen and/or making screencasts, PSS students sharing their understanding of the Electoral College in varied and creative ways, and much more!
Videoconferences: PSS students talked with Author Ji-li Jiang, and French students met with the Philadelphia Museum of Art for a session on Impressionists.
Author-illustrator Gareth Hinds with Advanced Art, Art I, Art II, Interpretation of Film, and English 9 students.
The addition of cafe tables and stools around power and data outlets and low comfy chairs and tables makes for more flexible seating and working options.
Finally, use of library resources and materials remained strong, yet there's always room for growth. Database usage increased overall this year, and circulation of books and other materials from our library began to climb again this year after a dip in last year's circulation. My goal for next year is to find more ways to nurture a joy of reading and promote wonderful literature.
